Trinidad and Tobago are truly proud of Master Ceramic Artists…..Bunty and Rory O’Connor of Ajoupa Pottery
Bunty and Rory O’Connor of Ajoupa Pottery, are World Class Ceramic Artists in every respect. Trinidad & Tobago and Top O' Tobago are lucky!
In 1995, when Top O’ Tobago was under initial construction, Camille was looking for light fixtures. She discovered some clay light fixtures at a store in Port of Spain, Trinidad. These fixtures were being made from local clay by Bunty and Rory O’ Connor of Ajoupa Pottery, www.ajoupapottery.com.
Top O’ Tobago is privileged to be one of the last purchasers of Ajoupa’s terracotta light fixtures, the manufacture of which was shut down because of globalization.
But that discovery led to a relationship which exists to today. All the ceramic tables in the gazebos and the main house; the painted tiles around the mirrors and in the showers; the ceramics in the bathroom in the main bedroom in the house, were all designed and made by Bunty and installed by Rory.

Bunty is a well known Trinidadian artist. For many years, she designed, manufactured and taught others how to create beautiful mosaics.
Rory is an innovator, a developer of new ceramic techniques, and an expert in the properties of the clay which covers much of central Trinidad.
They work as a team.
They are both naturalists with a deep interest in and knowledge of the many plants and animals of T&T, both marine and land.
They are energised by many of the spiritual and mythical figures of Trinidad and Tobago. (Camille fancies herself to be the ‘Mama de L’eau’ featured on the main gazebo table.)

Making ‘pot hounds’ from clay, and new mosaic commissions such as the walls in the Cocobel chocolate shop in Port of Spain, now occupies much of Bunty’s time.
But all of us, (Peppa the Parrot included) love welcoming both Bunty and Rory to Top O Tobago from time to time.

We are truly happy that both Bunty and Rory continue to pass on their skills to another generation. Their creations are truly works of art.
Trinidad and Tobago are proud!
